Can I use Eloqi with my own physical chess board?

Yes, in beta. Prop your iPhone next to a standard board with real pieces, and Eloqi follows your moves through the camera. Play chess on your real board with your phone

Does it work in low light?

Even light works best. In dim light it can mix up a king and a queen. A lamp over the board helps.

Does it need internet?

After the models download, bot games, puzzles, Game Review and coaching work offline. Online play, importing games and live broadcasts need a connection. Chess game review on your phone, even with no signal

Is Eloqi free?

Yes. Free every day: the daily puzzle, 5 practice puzzles, 2 Game Reviews, the First Steps lessons, 18 bots, real-board play and the spoken coach. Premium unlocks the rest. No ads either way.

Which phones work?

Eloqi is on iPhone today. It needs iOS 17 or later and is built for iPhone 13 and newer. iPhone 12 works on a best-effort basis. An Android app is coming soon, and you can join its waitlist on this page. There is no iPad app today.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no Eloqi account and no ads. Online play uses your own Lichess account, only if you play online. Board reading runs on your iPhone, and the full camera view stays there. A few board-only photos are shared by default to improve recognition, and you can turn that off.

When can I share a position to Eloqi?

Share to Eloqi comes in the next update. Share a post, a screenshot or a photo of a chess diagram, and Eloqi opens the position on a board.

Does the coach really talk?

Yes. Your coach talks out loud with a voice that runs on your iPhone, and you choose how much. The 36 bots talk too, each in its own voice. An AI chess coach that talks you through every game

Can I play online with Eloqi?

Yes. Sign in with your own Lichess account and play rated or casual rapid and classical games.

Can I import my chess.com or Lichess games?

Yes. Type your username. Eloqi reads your public games, with no login to those sites.

Can I watch live chess tournaments with commentary?

Yes. Watch follows live Lichess broadcasts of top events, and your coach explains the key moments for Beginner, Club, Expert or My level.

Which languages does Eloqi support?

Menus and screens come in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese. The coach speaks and writes its commentary in English for now. Lesson notes are in English too.

Does Eloqi use AI on my iPhone?

Yes. The chess engine, board reading and the coach’s voice run on your iPhone.
